The first time I ravaged (yes, and this is the only appropriate word to describe my experience) this book was back in college. I have a love/hate relationship with this book (borrowed from Maki). Published in 1977, this is the title of a book by Barthes. A Lover's Discourse: Fragments. Ergo, the lover's discourse is built on backwards compatibility with each model deriving from its predecessor. The Lovers Discourse- a reply to Barthes. To take the fragments which have emerged as a deconstruction and reaction to the text and to reorder them alphabetically, under titles which loosely summarise the theme/content of the particular thought. This is a reply to Roland Barthes 'A Lover's Discourse'. Time, an indispensable dimension of pleasure, is cut into fragments that can no longer be enjoyed” (Bifo 5).
